Description

The Shining 3D EinScan Medixa is a portable 3D scanner designed for orthotics and prosthetics (O and P). It combines 3D capture, processing and data export in a single wireless device, so no external PC is needed for basic operation. Predefined workflows for O and P clinics reduce patient time and remove the need for plaster casts, giving patients a cleaner and more comfortable experience.

Key features

  • All-in-one design with scanner, processing and export in one device, which simplifies use in the office or in the field
  • Wireless and standalone operation, easy to carry between offices or treatment rooms
  • Step-by-step guided interface that clinicians without 3D scanning experience can use
  • Scan presets for the face, skull, torso, upper limb, lower limb, legs, socket, seat and foam box, with parameters that can be customized
  • Non-contact scanning with white light and infrared VCSEL technology, which is clean and comfortable for children and elderly patients
  • Algorithms that compensate for slight patient movement, useful for children's heads and for chests where breathing causes constant movement
  • 5 MP texture camera that captures surface texture, including markings drawn on the skin
  • Export in STL, OBJ and PLY formats for direct use with CAD/CAM and O and P design software
  • Data transfer to hospital order systems and design portals, with options to adapt the clinical flow and interface
  • Compatible with the FootStation 2 platform for foot scanning

Digital workflow instead of plaster casts

The traditional process relies on plaster casting, manual measurements and manual CAD modeling. With the Medixa, a single non-contact scan replaces several manual measurements. The data is stored digitally, so the clinic can compare it with scans from later check-ups and keep a traceable record of each patient.

Typical uses

  • Orthoses and prostheses for the skull, face, limbs, trunk, legs, seat and socket
  • Cranial helmets for children, where movement compensation helps
  • Footwear and insole projects when combined with FootStation 2

Frequently asked questions

Does it need a computer?

No external PC is required for basic operation. The scanner has its own 8-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage and a 6.4 inch touch screen.

Which file formats can I export?

The scanner exports STL, OBJ and PLY files, which integrate with CAD/CAM and O&P design software.

Can it scan moving patients, such as children?

Dedicated algorithms compensate for slight movement during scanning, which is especially useful for children's heads and for chests where breathing causes constant movement.

Does it capture color and markings on the skin?

Yes. The 5 MP texture camera captures surface texture, including markings drawn on the skin.

Is it wireless and how long does it run?

It works wirelessly and standalone over Wi-Fi 6, and it has two 5500 mAh batteries. The sources do not state a runtime.
