Description

The Snapmaker J1S is a high-speed IDEX 3D printer with two independent extruders that move separately on the X axis. It can print two parts at once in Copy or Mirror mode or combine two materials in a single part. It is delivered pre-assembled and calibrated, and is aimed at schools, universities, companies and makers who need fast, productive printing.

Key features

  • IDEX parallel printing: Copy and Mirror modes print two identical parts at the same time, roughly halving the waiting time.
  • High speed: up to 350 mm/s with 10,000 mm/s² acceleration, with vibration compensation to protect print quality.
  • Dual-material printing: combine, for example, rigid nylon with flexible TPU, or print with soluble or breakaway support material. Compared with multi-material units, IDEX reduces filament changeover time and waste.
  • Automatic IDEX calibration: XY offset calibration without manual steps, electrically assisted Z offset calibration and bed leveling reduced to 3 points on a PEI glass plate.
  • Print quality aids: quick extruder switching with standby preheating, corner optimization, and cooling fans under the nozzles and on the back panel.
  • Rigid all-metal build: one-piece die-cast aluminium frame with high-precision linear guides, repeatability of ±0.03 mm (X/Y) and ±0.02 mm (Z).
  • 5 inch Android touch screen and the Luban slicer, which also works with third-party software.

Typical uses

  • Small-batch production of identical parts using Copy or Mirror mode.
  • Functional prototypes that combine rigid and flexible materials.
  • Complex geometries with soluble supports.
  • Teaching and maker workshops.

Frequently asked questions

What does IDEX mean?

IDEX stands for Independent Dual Extruders. The two print heads move separately on the X axis, so the printer can make two copies at once or print two materials in one part.

What is the build volume?

300 x 200 x 200 mm in the default mode. Copy mode offers 160 x 200 x 200 mm and Mirror mode 150 x 200 x 200 mm per part.

Which materials can it print?

PLA, ABS, HIPS, PC, TPU of 90 Shore A or harder, TPE, PETG, ASA, PP, PVA, PA, PA-GF and PA-CF, up to 300 °C at the nozzle.

Is it delivered ready to use?

Yes. It is delivered pre-assembled and calibrated, with a PEI glass plate, a 0.4 mm nozzle, orange PLA, breakaway support filament and a set of tools.

What software does it use?

The Luban slicer, which runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and supports third-party software. It accepts STL, OBJ and 3MF files and exports G-code.
