Description

The PrintDry Pro is a filament dryer for 3D printing. Moisture is a common source of printing problems, and it matters most for technical filaments such as nylon, where every detail counts in the final quality of a part. The PrintDry Pro removes that moisture in a controlled way, so it is a practical alternative to drying spools in a home oven. It is aimed at schools, labs, workshops and makers who print regularly.

Key features

  • Designed around the four factors that determine how well a filament dries: heat, dew point, drying time and air flow
  • Works by keeping the filament in contact with dry air, which carries water out of the material quickly and efficiently
  • Suited to technical filaments, where moisture has the biggest effect on part quality
  • A safer and more controlled option than drying filament in a kitchen oven

Recommended drying settings

The table below lists the recommended temperature and minimum drying time for each material.

Good drying practice

  • Drying time. Filaments do not dry instantly. Do not run the PrintDry Pro for more than 40 consecutive hours.
  • Moisture concentration difference. This is the amount of moisture in the filament compared with the surrounding air. Contact with dry air moves water out of the filament quickly and efficiently.
  • Air flow. Once the moisture level has been reduced to a minimum, keep the filament in a storage box such as a PolyBox, or store it airtight, so that it does not absorb moisture again.

Typical uses

  • Restoring filament that has absorbed moisture, for example nylon
  • Preparing technical filaments before printing parts where quality is critical
  • Keeping a stock of spools in good condition in classrooms, labs and workshops

Frequently asked questions

Why should I dry my 3D printer filament?

Moisture is a source of common printing problems. It matters most with technical filaments such as nylon, where every detail affects the final quality of the part.

Which materials can I dry with the PrintDry Pro?

The recommended settings cover PLA, ABS, PETG, nylon, PVA, TPU / TPE, ASA and PP, and also desiccant.

How long should I dry nylon?

Nylon is dried at 70 °C for more than 12 hours. Do not run the dryer for more than 40 consecutive hours.

Is it better than drying filament in a kitchen oven?

The PrintDry Pro is designed specifically for the task and controls the factors that matter, namely heat, dew point, drying time and air flow.

How do I store filament after drying?

Keep it in a storage box such as a PolyBox or store it airtight, so that it stays dry.
