Description

The Hiwonder xArm robotic arm has 6 degrees of freedom, an aluminum structure and smart servos that report their position. You assemble it step by step, then program it from a computer, from your phone or by moving it by hand.

What you can do with xArm

  • Teach it movements by hand. You move the arm into the position you want, the servos read the angles and the position is saved in an action group.
  • Program it from a computer. In the PC software you adjust each servo and build sequences of movements.
  • Control it from your phone. The Android and iOS app starts the saved movements and controls each joint.
  • Add sensors. With the add-on sensor kit, compatible with Arduino, the arm detects objects and reacts on its own.

Servos that know where they are

xArm uses Hiwonder smart serial servos, LX-15D and LX-225, connected on a single bus. Each servo reports its position, voltage and temperature to the controller. They have overheating and locked-rotor protection, so they can also withstand the programming mistakes you make at the start.

Sensors for your own projects

The add-on sensor kit turns the arm into a platform for Arduino projects. With the ultrasonic sensor, xArm notices a nearby object and picks it up on its own. With the color sensor it sorts cubes, while with the touch sensor you start it like a claw machine.
The kit contains:
  • Arduino UNO R3 board with expansion board and cable
  • ultrasonic sensor with colored light
  • color sensor, touch sensor, sound sensor and light sensor
  • 3 infrared obstacle sensors
  • OLED screen
  • 2 acrylic plates, 3 colored cubes, a work map and screws
With the ultrasonic sensor, xArm recognizes an object held in a hand and grabs it, in the official Hiwonder video.
