Description

The SEB electronic animated eyes are an accessory board for the Raspberry Pi. It controls two 128x128 pixel OLED or TFT LCD screens and also provides four analog inputs for sensors. It is a simple way to give a mask, a prop, a sculpture or a robot a pair of lively animated eyes.
The board plugs directly into a Raspberry Pi with a 2x20 pin header, so you can connect it and start developing your own project right away. The kit includes the two displays and the connection cables. The Raspberry Pi board itself is not included.

Key features

  • Drives two 128x128 pixel OLED or TFT LCD screens
  • Four analog inputs for connecting sensors
  • Works with any Raspberry Pi that has a 2x20 pin header, including Pi B+, Pi 2, Pi 3 and Pi Zero
  • Best performance on a Raspberry Pi 3, which renders the eyes with high performance in OpenGL
  • Eye rendering code written in Python, which makes customization easy

Why build on a Raspberry Pi

  • Hardware accelerated 3D graphics (OpenGL), including antialiasing
  • A faster processor, more RAM and two SPI buses can deliver higher frame rates
  • Standard graphics formats such as JPEG, PNG and SVG can be decoded directly, with no preprocessing step
  • If you prefer a smaller and less powerful solution, the original Teensy Eyes are a more Arduino friendly option to build and customize

Typical uses

  • Cosplay masks and costumes
  • Props and spooky Halloween sculptures
  • Animatronics and robots
  • Maker and educational projects that need expressive eyes

What's in the box

  • SEB electronic animated eyes board
